New Year Resolutions

It is that time of year again when we might resolve to be better people.

Here are my 2014 resolutions:

1. To lose weight

2. To focus on the happiness and well being of my wife every day

3. To stop drinking alcohol in January and then see if I can extend my abstinence one month at a time.

Any suggestions as to what might make me keep these resolutions would be gratefully received.

Obviously this might help, but it might be a little too harsh.

  1. A Happy New Year to you and you Significant Other, DB, and my good wishes are with you regarding your resolutions.

I'm sure it won't be hard for you to continue to make your SO's happiness your number one priority and it will be good to lose a little weight, especially with Her help.

As to abstinence from alcohol, it can be done, and many of us have done it; I have not taken an alcoholic drink in twenty-seven years, but in all fairness, I gave it up a an easier time of year than this. I hope you are successful - you can always contact me through these pages if I can be of any help to you.

    God bless Y/you both!

    1. Hi Hedgehog and a Happy New Year to you. thanks for stopping by and thanks for the encouragement on the alcohol. I will do my best and report on progress. I gave up the ciggies 6 years ago so I am sure I can make a stab at this. Cheers ???

    1. Noted and it may well come to pass if I don't do what I have promised.

  3. Michael: the first two are easily achievable, if the weight loss is not too significant. I have oatmeal for breakfast (no sugar added), and mostly have cut desserts and snacking too much at night, and lost about 12 pounds. As for drinking, I open a bottle of wine, but drink it over three nights at dinner, with Cindy sometimes having a little... so moderation!!!
    Good luck
Happy New year to you and your partner
